About the Role:

Are you passionate about supporting children and young people?  VES are looking for enthusiastic, resilient and driven individuals who can support children and young people to have the best start in life as a Children’s Residential Support Worker. You will be working alongside an experience team of managers and support workers to provide the best care for children in the home. Your role will be to support their social, emotional, and behavioural development in a safe and nurturing environment where they feel valued and cared for.

Responsible For

    • You’ll be supporting children and young people in all day-to-day activities and interests
    • To promote the young person’s independence and wellbeing
    • To protect the children and young people from any risks to their health and welfare
    • To ensure the safety of young people by maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of care plans and guidance.
    • Help the children or young people retain the highest level of independence as possible.
    • Developing and maintaining good working relationships with the staff, parents, Social Workers and other professionals that may be involved in the young people’s lives such as Psychologists.
    • Participate in team meetings, training and supervision.
    • To support, overcome and learn to minimise incidents when behaviour can be challenging.
    • You may be asked to accompany children on trips or weekends away if required.

Educational Requirements

  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to have one processed.
  • Due to regulations, you will need to be over 21 years old.
  • Complete a Social Care Wales induction and register with them within six months.
  • You must have a full UK Driving Licence and access to your own car.
  • NVQ or QCF Level 3 in Children & Young People / Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent
  • 1 Year experience in Children’s Residential Care or a similar setting
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.
